- Period
- Friday, June 20 - Sunday, September 7, 2025
* While July 7 is commonly celebrated as Tanabata, the original festival was held on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar. Known as Traditional Tanabata, this date aligns with a summer night when the moon about six days old, shines in the southwestern sky. In 2025, Traditional Tanabata falls on August 29.
A Starry Summer Experience at the Observation Deck
Since ancient times, people have looked to the stars to send their wishes. The corridor of the observation deck will be decorated with bamboo and Milky Way–inspired displays, creating a magical Tanabata ambiance. Enjoy the stunning cityscape set against the glowing night sky.

Tanabata Bamboo Decoration Experience
A beloved Japanese tradition during Tanabata is to write wishes on colorful strips of paper and hang them from bamboo branches. Reflect on the legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi, who reunite once a year, as you take part in this custom. Be sure to capture a special photo of Tokyo’s skyline paired with the decorated bamboo - an experience only available at Tokyo City View.

Milky Way Photo Spot
Take photos against the Tokyo night view, the shimmering Milky Way, and stars linked to the Tanabata myth. Created with the technology behind MEGASTAR, one of the world’s most advanced planetariums, this display features a million stars - a spectacular scene you won’t find anywhere else.
