50th Anniv. Tezuka Osamu’s BLACK JACK Exhibition

2023.10.6 [Fri] - 11.6 [Mon]

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Tezuka Osamu’s Black Jack, a medical manga. Black Jack is said to have had an impact on many of the medical workers currently active on the front lines, and the themes and messages contained in it leave a deep impression on people even today.
Black Jack is a genius surgeon dressed in black with a scar on his face and Pinoko is a girl created by him who is 18 years old yet still newborn. The story unfolds with powerful characters set in the world, and is woven from many themes, including the lives of humans and other creatures, the medical care that saves them, the way people live, and even the fundamental question of what doctors are for in the first place.
This exhibition presents the untold story of birth of Black Jack, Tezuka Osamu’s profound humanism, and the realistic depiction of medical care that we, who have experienced COVID-19, still find novel.
This is a special exhibition that you can fully enjoy together with the superb view of Tokyo unique to Tokyo City View. It is sure to attract people not only from around Japan but also from overseas, including both those who know Black Jack deeply and those who are learning of it for the first time.
