60TH ANNIVERSARY SANRIO EXHIBITION THE BEGINNING OF KAWAII will be the largest exhibition in Sanrio’s history, featuring more than 800 products with Sanrio characters, as well as valuable original drawings and materials. It is to unravel the details behind Sanrio’s 60-year history which they celebrated last year, and give visitors the chance to fully experience the allure of Sanrio, including how the culture of kawaii (cute or adorable) has come to be in Japan.
Masuda Sebastian, an artist and art director who is a leading figure in the culture of kawaii in Japan, is in charge of designing the spaces, this time focusing on the symbolic art Unforgettable Tower that was produced for this exhibition. Visitors to this exhibition will not only be able to enjoy the dynamic space design combined with the picturesque cityscape that only Tokyo City View can offer, but see some collaborative works by up-and-coming artists of Japan.
A kawaii collaborative menu is also planned for the “Museum Cafe & Restaurant THE SUN & THE MOON,” located on the same floor! The venue brings together contemporary art and the spectacular view from Tokyo City View that’s an observation deck situated 250 meters above sea level, making the world of Sanrio all the more pop and dynamic. We hope you’ll love it!
