From Thursday, December 8, 2022 to Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the Tokyo City View, YUMING MUSEUM, the largest-ever exhibition where visitors can experience the charm of Matsutoya Yumi (popularly known as “Yuming”), will be held on the occasion of the 50-year anniversary of her musical debut.
Since her debut in 1972 at age 18 with the single Henji Wa Iranai (No Need To Reply), Yuming has continued to open new doors as a pioneer in the music scene. Over half a decade of activity, she has released 39 original albums and has shared priceless time and space with her fans at over 2,000 live concerts. Her down-to-earth image as communicated through media such as magazines and the radio still resonates with many fans from her generation.
This exhibition will be the largest-ever museum exhibition of Yuming’s own collection, featuring rare documents, videos, stage costumes, handwritten notes and more - all of which have almost never been shown to the public. The YUMING MUSEUM offers a special opportunity to encounter Yuming’s personal charm as a singer-songwriter and as a human being in a panoramic space 250 meters above sea level that overlooks the city of Tokyo, the very place where she grew up.
