Photo: Aratani Ryoichi (Tokyo City View Official Photographer)

Born 1960 in Tokyo.
After graduating from Tama Art Gakuen Photography Department, Aratani studied under photographer Tanuma Takeo. Captivated by the views from the Roppongi Hills observation deck, Aratani held an exhibition in 2015 featuring a selection of the images he captured there. Over the past more than a decade, he has visited the observation deck over 1,500 times and continues to shoot photographs there to this day. In May 2026, he published a book of his photos titled, TOKYO CITY VIEW (published by Nihon Shashin Kikaku), which represents the culmination of this long-term project.
