From Tuesday, October 1 through Sunday, November 3, Tokyo City View is holding the event, Viewing the Moon in the Heavens: The Sentimental Ito-emoshi Experience of Gazing at the Moon in the Skies of Roppongi, with the theme of admiring the moon on long autumn nights.
Ito-emoshi is a book from which this event was named (authored by Koto and published by Sanctuary Books), which has reached 60,000 copies in publication and has been especially enjoyed by those belonging to Generation Z. This event is a collaborative event alongside the book. Visitors to the Tokyo City View can appreciate this special experience with the poetic words and illustrations found in the book, while gazing at the skies.
The event venue also features a miniature o-tsukimi photo spot with a diorama model of the city, above which a moon is adorned, where visitors can experience a mini-moon viewing with pictures of the miniature city diorama.
Visitors can also experience the moon power of the long autumn nights at the Tenku no Yoga (Yoga in the Sky) event, and enjoy products named after the moon like the Floraison Moon signature cocktail served at Restaurant THE MOON on the same floor (itself fittingly named after the moon), as well as other products at the TOKYO CITY VIEW SHOP.
Further, the Roppongi Tenmon (Astronomy) Club is holding an autumn night moon-watching event on the day of the full moon in October.
During this season when the air is clear and the stars in the night sky shine brighter than ever, we hope you’ll join us to admire the moon at this event, which also features explanations from an expert astronomer.
Come enjoy this unique chance to view the moon in the heavens with us at Tokyo City View, one of the locations officially recognized for one of Japan’s 100 most famous lunar views.

The view of the harvest moon from the Roppongi Hills Observation Deck is now one of the most famous in Japan!
With the intent of revitalizing tourism by promoting the appeal of the beauty of the many harvest moon viewing spots in Japan since 2016 by means of the Japan 100 Moons project (Nihon-Hyaku-Meigetsu), the YAKEI Convention & Visitors Bureau has selected the view of the moon from the observation deck of Roppongi Hills to be certified as the 38th official moon-viewing site in Japan. We hope you’ll enjoy the unique night view of skyscrapers and the harvest moon, an experience that’s unique to metropolitan Tokyo.
